Speaker Casada no longer deserves Tennesseans’ trust and is unqualified to carry out his responsibilities as Speaker
Nashville, TN: With reports out of Speaker Glen Casada office showing lewd behavior, the framing of public activists, as well as enabling substance abuse and racist behavior among Casada’s staff, the Libertarian Party of Tennessee (LPTN) is calling for his immediate resignation.
Joshua Eakle, Chairman of the LPTN, commented, “House Ethics rules require a legislator with knowledge of unethical behavior to report it to the House Ethics Committee. It’s been made clear that Speaker Casada had knowledge of unethical behavior among his staff yet opted to say nothing.”
David Sexton, Vice Chair of the LPTN, added, “Putting our political disagreements aside, Speaker Casada’s behavior has eroded public trust in the Speaker’s office. It appears the values Casada campaigned on are in stark contrast with his personally-held values. Attempting to cover up his and his staff’s illegal behavior with false statements to the public shows he no longer deserves Tennessean’s trust and is unqualified to continue carrying out his responsibilities as Speaker.”
“Without a resignation,” Eakle continued, “the Republican Party should immediately seek a vote of confidence to put this issue to rest once and for all.”
